About Me

I’ve lived in some places, I’ve learned some things and I’ve worked at a few things. I grew up in a family who loved art on our walls and in our decor, a paternal family deep into Indian antiques and textiles. Almost all these people, places, courses, degrees, and jobs, have had art as a common theme. Classical civilisations being my favourite high school subject, and also incidentally the origin of the shop name. Odysseus wore a cloak held together with only a pin of gold on his return voyage.

I studied backstage theatre, where the prop work, costume department and set design were my favourite aspects. I interned at the Royal Ballet where the costume design department was a treasure I couldn’t take my eyes from. I studied a little about personal style at LCoF. I studied Fashion Merchandising where my favourite modules, by far, were the textile and history of fashion classes. I worked with a fashion designer who enjoyed embracing local and small time accessory artisans to sell alongside her collections.

I took some time off, moved back to Southern Africa, and became a full time dog walker in Cape Town, where the mountains and fynbos were my daily art intake. But during lockdown i discovered a couple of amazing instagram pages dedicated to Antique jewellery, and i realized, i really missed the art of fashion in my life. And my new path was set.

Now I live on a farm outside Cape Town, with my cats and now a dog and gather all the most beautiful pieces with stunning stories. Luckily living on said farm means I have no need to hoard these treasures for myself but instead can hold them, admire them, love them for a short time and then pass them on to the next part of their journey.
